Marcus appointed as Government Whip

An example of a parliamentary whip

I am delighted to have been appointed to serve in the Government Whips Office by the incoming Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.

By convention, Whips in the House of Commons do not speak in debates nor do they sign Early Day Motions (EDMs) or table questions to Ministers.

Being a Whip does not mean that I am less able to help constituents but does mean that I raise issues and makes contact with Ministers in different ways.
