New trains on the way

Nuneaton’s MP, Marcus Jones, has welcomed the news that London Northwestern Railways have ordered over 400 new carriages for the franchise that serves Nuneaton.

“I held a very positive meeting with Jan Chaudhry-van der Velde, the Managing Director of London Northwestern Railways, last week and high on our agenda was the roll-out of the new carriages, most of which are being built by Bombardier in Derby.

“The huge investment in rolling stock being made by London Northwestern Railways will mean that in the next few years many of the busiest trains on the service between Nuneaton and London Euston will be extended and local routes will be upgraded too.

“The new trains will provide space for an extra 85,000 passengers on rush hour services into Birmingham and London. Journeys will be faster and more comfortable, with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi and in-seat power sockets provided as standard.

“The massive increase in the number of people using Britain’s railways in recent years is great news and I am delighted that these new carriages will provide extra capacity for passengers.”
